Rep. Mike Alberts, thanked governor M. Jodi Rell for signing legislation that will provide up to $6.9 million in aid to struggling Connecticut dairy farms.

Rep. Alberts said: “I supported the bill to aid dairy farmers and I am glad to see the governor recognizes the challenges dairy farmers are facing, especially in Woodstock.”

“This money will go a long way to help the dairy farmers. It isn’t the full solution, but it will make a difference in keeping dairy farms running and open spaces preserved.”

The measure, SB 891, will help save the $1 billion dairy industry, approximately 4,200 jobs and an estimated $145 million to $208 million in personal income.
