$1 Million in State Grants Awarded

State Rep. Mike Alberts thanked Gov. M. Jodi Rell for more than $1 million in state grants for local improvements in Brooklyn, Eastford, Hampton, Pomfret and Woodstock. The funding includes: 

  • Brooklyn, $200,000 toward the design and construction of Phase II improvementsto Riverside Park 
  • Eastford, $227,000 for construction of infrastructure improvements at Camp Nahaco 
  • Hampton, $250,000 for construction of a new town garage 
  • Pomfret, $150,000 for improvements to a recreation park and another $100,000 for improvements and an addition to an historic meeting house 
  • Woodstock, $250,000 for expansion and renovation of the town highway facility.

Rep. Alberts said, “Each of my five Boards of Selectmen guided me as to the priorities of their respective community.  I am extremely grateful that of $20 million awarded statewide for the Small Town Economic Assistance Program, the Governor was able to direct nearly $1.1 million to my five towns.”.

The funding is being made available through the Connecticut Small Town Economic Assistance Program,.The program assists towns with economic development projects and helps hold down the cost to local taxpayers.
